Wilson E. Cardoza Sr.

Wilson E. Cardoza, Sr. passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 4, 2011 at the age of 71. Mr. Cardoza was born in Wareham, MA. the son of the late Henry and Eva R. Cardoza. Wilson was an outstanding carpenter for many years, having built all types of homes throughout Massachusetts. He was known for his uncanny attention to detail and creative touch. A 1958 graduate of Wareham High School, Wilson starred in football, basketball, and baseball. He later played on several semi-pro football teams in the area that included The Fairhaven Varsity Club, Murphy Club, Wareham Capeway, Middleboro, Brockton Pros and Nashua Colts. He was arguably the best wide receiver to ever play in the North East area. An avid golfer, he played at a high level with a single digit handicap for many years and continued to play up until his illness with scores in the low 70’s having once shot a 64. Wilsons’s other interests included cooking, reading, politics, and working on his golf clubs.

Mr. Cardoza is survived by his former first wife Paula (White) of E. Falmouth and their children Evamarie Kidwell of E. Falmouth, Wilson E. Cardoza Jr. of Mashpee, and Kerri L. Rampino and her husband Mark of Teaticket. He is also survived by former wife Yvonne (Viera) Cardoza of Onset and their children Tyrone Cardoza and Courtney Cardoza of Onset. Wilson also is survived by thirteen grandchildren, his brothers Ernie Perry of Onset, Gerald Cardoza of Mattapoisett, Ronald Cardoza of Florida, and a sister, Marie Cardoza of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Dennis Cardoza.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 8 from 4-8 P.M. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 9 at 10 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Church, 90 High Street, Wareham, with burial following in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
