Born on June 30, 1934, in Preston, Maryland, to Albert Robert Krueger Sr. and Elsa R. Krueger, Bob grew up on a farm along the Choptank River with his brother, Don. He married his hometown sweetheart and loving wife, Carole Peterson Krueger, on January 21, 1956, and they soon began a family with their three beloved daughters, Susan Krueger McCarthy, Cheryl Patrice Krueger, and Diana Terese Krueger.
Bob proudly served 20+ years in the U.S. Air Force and was a decorated pilot, notably flying AC-119 Gunships during the Vietnam War. He deeply cherished the camaraderie and life-long friendships forged during his time in the military, often stating that some of his fondest late-life memories were made during Air Force reunion trips.
Bob loved life and pursued his many interests with passion: travel, good food, music, and company. He was a dedicated and adventurous cook, mastering cuisines from Eastern Shore seafood steam pots to authentic Asian stir-fry and Greek smoked meats and pastries. Bob loved music, following local acts like Sam the Sax man in Virginia Beach and Todd Herendeen in Panama City. An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed spending time on the water—whether it was the ocean, the Chesapeake Bay, or his beloved Choptank River—and could often be found fishing and crabbing off a pier, a bridge, or one of his treasured boats.
What Bob cherished above all was his family and sharing his interests with them. He was a loving, caring, and generous husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life revolved around gatherings and shared experiences with family and friends: Friday night crab feasts, weekend trips to the farm, and family vacations to destinations like Deep Creek, Virginia Beach, Florida, and even Mexico and Canada. Most holidays were spent with three (or four) generations of Kruegers, happily gathered at the farmhouse in Preston or the house in Bowie. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and service that will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Albert Robert Krueger Jr. is survived by his brother, Don Krueger (Jan Minnig); devoted daughter Diana Krueger; grandchildren Robert (Katie) McCarthy, Kristen (Wes) Martin, and John Krueger; and great grandchildren Anderson McCarthy, Gavin McCarthy, Cole Martin and Emma Martin; and sister-in-law Dorothy (Ron) Lindquist. He was preceded in death by his wife Carole and daughters, Susan and Cheryl.
A brief Memorial service will be held graveside, Thursday November 13, 2025 at 11AM at the Junior Order Cemetery, 410 Linchester Rd, Preston, MD 21655.
