

Avis Sharrow Klase of Bowie, Maryland died on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from heart failure. Born December 23, 1922, in Clarion, Pennsylvania Avis began a short career in modeling. When WWII broke out, she worked in two factories producing radar equipment for airplanes. After moving to Prince George's County in 1948, she worked for the school system and later sold real estate for over 30 years.
Avis was best known as a loving wife and mother, wonderful cook, and excellent seamstress. She created beautiful quilts, and was a creative decorator. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and played bridge in three groups. She was a devout methodist whose Christian love showed through to her family and friends.
Avis is pre-deceased by her husband, Franklin Klase, and her son, Kevin. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Benac and husband Peter of Bowie, Maryland, her son Brian, of Richmond, Virginia, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the Robert Evans funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 from 6-8 pm. A short prayer service will be held 11 am on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Cheltenham Veterans' Cemetery.
