Betty N. Patrick

Betty Nease Patrick, 86, of Bowie died on July 13 at the Crofton Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Logan, West Virginia. Mrs. Patrick graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where she was a member of the Delta Sigma Epsilon sorority, and attended West Virginia University, American University, and George Washington University. She taught English, home economics and was in charge of the cafeteria at Lynn High School in West Virginia. She also taught home economics and physical education, and was the music accompanist and sophomore sponsor at Crum High School in West Virginia. She was the national Assistant Secretary of Future Teachers of America, National Education Association from 1951 to 1955 in Washington, D.C. She taught briefly at West Lanham Hills Elementary School in Maryland. She also briefly worked at Peebles Department Store in Bowie.

Some of her hobbies and outside interests included singing in the choir of Hamline United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C., and enjoyed doing crafts.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Patrick; one son, Robert Patrick and his wife Kathy; two daughters, Margaret Patrick Bone and her husband Ted, and Nancy Patrick DeVera; and nine grandchildren.
