For those who knew our Pop Pop, you know his adventurous spirit would not allow us to honor him in a traditional manner. We will continue to carry on his fun- loving, adventurous spirit by having an intimate family remembrance/celebration at various points throughout the next year.

In lieu of flowers, please do what Pop Pop did best, which was to love his family. Call, write, or send flowers to someone you love would be a beautiful testimony to our dad's life.

Please feel free to share loving memories you have of Pop Pop on this site.

It seems like yesterday when last we spoke. Though I think we only met once or twice over 30+ years with the commission, we spoke on the phone a lot. You were my go to maintenance supervisor who knew the answers to all the M&D problems on the weekends and evenings. I truly miss that; you were my go to guy.

My sympathies, prayers, and blessings to your family during this time. Rest In Peace .

It was sad to hear of the passing of Greg Sparks, he was a gentle giant and would do anything for anyone behind the scenes. Earth has no sorrows that Heaven cannot heal! RIP my dear Greg Sparks. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

I worked with Greg for many years and always sought his advice and expertise. When problems needed to be solved, thats what he did. Regardless of which facility I was working, but especially at the pool, he was able to get it done.

My prays are lifted for you, his cherished family. May memories carry you forward when your heart turns heavy.

I worked closely with Greg for many years with the Major Maintenance and pool renovation projects. Greg was always a "Can Do" type of Guy. I also had the pleasure of helping Greg with some of the Pre Season Girls Soccer practices at Spalding HS as his daughter Jen was a senior and my daughter Jen was a freshman (I think?) Greg was a easy going light hearted person but I recall his sensitive side as he was holding my wife's had, consoling her, at Sharon Bennett's funeral...

Greg was a gentle and very kind man. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for you. His talents and “can do” spirit carried us all at the Commission through challenges that seemed impossible be it new ADA building code regulations, operations of huge new facilities or the maintenance of aging old ones (he specialized in pools and building renovations) .

My condolences and prayers go out to all of the family. I surely was blessed to have known Greg and shared many laughs with him. RIP my friend.

Growing up as Best Friends with his Daughter Jennifer, many... many sleep overs, hours and hours spent at the family Home, always feeling welcomed and loved by all. This news is hard to learn. As the years pass, and life takes us all separate ways, the memories will always be the same. Seeing him around the neighborhood, that we grew up in, As he often stopped and said ‘Hello’ asked how things were, will never leave the memories I have. Watching and being witness to the many changes he did to their home is certainly a knack that he had, as well as enjoyed.
Sending prayers and love to his family; he will be missed and always loved that were always “family”, even if not by blood.
I truly hope that the memories all of you have of your Husband, Dad and Pop-Pop help you get through this time of grief.
All of you are in my prayers! Love to all of you!

Greg worked indirectly for me, as an Assistant Division Chief, at the Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Maintenance and Development Division. He could always be counted on for professional advise re contract work, sizing up a job, getting a project completed in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate personnel, and knowing what to say and how to deal with difficult contractors. He was a nice guy and a true gentleman who will be truly missed. My prayers are with his family and with Greg in Heaven.
