Christopher John Fucella (aka Fuji), 65, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Washington Hospital Center shortly following hours of quality time spent with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Fucella and brother, Frank Fucella. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janet Fucella; two children, Mary Fucella (Stefan Smith) and Cara Fucella (Tyler Plahanski); brothers, James and Daniel Fucella, sister, Mary Jo, and mother-in-law, Mary Kranz; several nieces and nephews, and brother in-laws and sister in-laws.
Christopher worked in the US Postal Service for 36 years. Following his retirement at 55 years of age, he worked at Anne Arundel County Parks and Rec as a field manager for local youth sports. He was an avid fan of the New York Jets and New York Mets, and especially enjoyed watching with his family and friends. He found joy in coaching his daughters through youth sports. When he wasn’t sending texts and jokes to his loved ones, you could find Christopher on his stoop enjoying the fresh air and the simplest joys he found in everyday life. He enjoyed frequent trips to Lake Geroge, the racetrack at Saratoga, and Christmas traditions with his family in New York.
He was delegate for the National Association of Letter Carriers for nearly 50 years, and a devout Catholic, who demonstrated his faith throughout his life. Christopher was a member of a 40 plus year fantasy baseball league with his neighborhood friends, proudly winning his final season as a member in 2025.
On behalf of Christopher, his family would like to express gratitude to Dr. John Kennedy, Dr. Michael Goldstein and the entire ICU medical staff at Washington Hospital Center.
Family and friends are invited to the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 3-8 PM for his visitation and fellowship.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church 1070 Cecil Ave South, in Millersville, MD.
Christoper will be laid to rest following the Mass in the Our Lady of the Fields Cemetery
