Christopher Todd Young

Christopher Todd Young passed away in Lanham, Maryland, on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the age of 54. Chris was predeceased by his parents, Charles William and Jeanetta Harris Young. Chris is survived by a sister, Teresa McNeil, and two brothers, Charles Anthony Young and Timothy Dwayne Young.

Chris was born in 1963 at the Washington Sanitarium and Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland. He graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School in 1981. Out of high school, Chris worked various jobs, but found his passion working as a volunteer fire fighter with the Prince Georges County Fire Department. Pursuing this passion, he became a full-time member of the DC Fire Department where he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for over 25 years before retiring.

Chris greatly enjoyed the relationships that he developed working with the DC Fire Department and spoke very highly of his partners and colleagues within the Department. For recreation, he enjoyed model railroading and amassed several thousand components to build an N-scale replica of the Clinchfield railroad system in Erwin, Tennessee, the birthplace of his parents.

The visitation will be held at Robert E Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Chris will be buried at the Young family plot in Erwin, Tennessee.
