

Lieutenant Commander Clyde D. McDonald, 80, of Bowie, Maryland died August 19, 2010 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Mt. Pine, Arkansas, the only child of Eric and Ruby Terrell McDonald. He graduated from Tulane University and obtained a Masters at American University. He was a career Naval officer and was a Korean War veteran. A longtime resident of the Meadowbrook section of Bowie, Lt. Cmdr McDonald was often seen around town accompanied by his service dog. He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Disabled Veterans of America, and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Joan Gaffny McDonald, children Eric C. McDonald, Kathleen Sterba, RuthMcDonald, and Ann McDonald, and several grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Robert Evans Funeral Home, Bowie, MD. The Viewing will be Wednesday, August 25, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 26, 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Bowie, MD, burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Chesapeake or the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department.
