

Delores was born February 17, 1944 in Alexandria, Virginia, to Willard Oliver and Margaret (O’Connor) Routten. She graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1962. She was married to the love of her life, Jule Johnson on August 8, 1964. She worked for AT& T to support the family while Jule completed college at University of Maryland and then devoted her life to raising her children.
Delores was a passionate mother who was a great cook and famous for her Christmas cookies, deviled eggs and phenomenal gravies. She loved pelicans, feeding stray cats, country music and travel. She and Jule travelled the world with some favorite destinations being Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, Chile and Norway. She especially cherished her yearly trip with friends to Key West every winter.
Delores loved the Lord and attended Riverdale Baptist church for more than 50 years. She was a part-time employee of Riverdale Baptist School where she worked with young children.
Delores is survived by her children, William Johnson, Julie Hurlock (Wayne), Rick Johnson (Danielle); sister, Vicki Farrow (Shawn); grandchildren, Jennifer Clay, Megan, Michael, Jason, Cora and James Johnson, Patrick and Alexandra Hurlock; and great grandson, Jayce Clay.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents; beloved and husband of 49 years, Jule Abner Johnson and grandsons Paul and Gregory Johnson.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2-5 p.m. at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd. Bowie, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, viewing from 10-11a.m. and service at 11 a.m. at Riverdale Baptist Church, 1177 Largo Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD 20774. Interment will take place in Riverdale Memorial Gardens.
