Dorothy M. Thomasen

Dorothy M. Thomasen, affectionately known as "Dottie," passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025 in Crofton, Maryland at the age of 96. She was born in Washington D.C. in 1928 to William Vernon Goodwin, Sr. and Alice Louise Goodwin.

Throughout her life she enjoyed working with people, and held jobs as a restaurant hostess, school bus driver, and assistant at her husband's business, Universal Equipment Inc. She found joy in being outdoors, tending to her flowerbed, caring for animals, and never missed an opportunity to dance to good music. But above all, being with her family meant the most to her, whether visiting her grandkids over baked goods and word search puzzles; eating crabs with her late brothers; or extending her motherly love to her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Morris Thomasen, who she was married to for 51 years until he passed away in 1997, as well as her two brothers, Charles X. Goodwin and William V. Goodwin, Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Tucker (the late Joseph) of Greensboro and Margaret L. McDonough (John) of Gambrills; one son, Earl M. Thomasen, Jr. (Aletha) of Rockville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Darlene M. Thomasen.

Vitiation will be held on May 20, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM at he Robert E. Evans Funeral home 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
