Elaine “Lanie” Maria Rey, 62, of Bowie, MD previously of San Francisco, CA, passed in her home after a year and a half illness. Born May 24, 1954 in Richland, WA, to the Barbara and the late George Rey. Lanie completed a master’s degree and became a gemologist. She worked in Hawaii and San Francisco, working as a model for the John Robert Powers agency, as well as a jewelry maker and designer. Throughout her life, Lanie was a traveler, traveling through Europe, South America and China. She enjoyed collecting gems, for her jewelry designs, gardening and interior design. Lanie is survived by her brother, Glen Rey, her mother Barbara Rey, both of Bowie, MD. The family invites friends to a memorial service at 10:30AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 in the Robert E. Evens Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie MD.
