April 3, 1939 – August 10, 2026
Nora Das, born Eleanora Roberta Clarke, passed away early Monday, August 10, 2026. She is survived by her daughter Robyn (Peter) Bennett, son Bevan Das, and grandchildren Brooke Flynn, Ryan Bennett, Rebecca Das, and Julia Das. She was preceded in death by her husband, Badri.
Nora was born on April 3, 1939, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Robert and Alice Clarke. As a child, she survived a polio scare at age 8 that kept her in the hospital from September through December. Her family had a Christmas wish granted when Nora was able to return home to her mother’s care. Later, she and her older sister Alice shared fond memories of summer trips to Cape Cod.
She met Badri in Chicago while earning her master’s degree in chemistry from the Illinois Institute of Technology. They dated in Chicago and were married in Massachusetts.
Nora loved to garden, serving for several years as president of the garden club in the Kettering neighborhood, where she and Badri lived for 40 years, and later at the Riderwood senior living community. She also enjoyed playing tennis regularly, including mixed doubles with Badri and time on the court with Robyn and Bevan.
In her later years, Nora lived with Alzheimer’s disease and was lovingly cared for by the staff at Riderwood. As the disease progressed, she continued to recognize Robyn and Bevan, a connection that remained until the end.
