A beloved spouse, parent, grandparent and friend, she lived a life dedicated to her family and touched many lives.
Elfriede is survived by her two children, Gerald F. (“Gerry”) Keipert, and Marian Keipert Davis (husband Jim); two grandchildren Christina Davis Anderson (husband Hunter) and Joe Davis (wife Ries), and one great-grandchild Trey Anderson. Elfriede was affectionately known as “Mutti” (German for mom) by her children, and later as “Oma” (German for grandmother) by her grandchildren. Elfriede immigrated to America with her husband and infant son Gerry in 1957. The family first settled in Alamogordo, New Mexico where daughter Marian was soon born, and later moved to Bowie, Maryland in 1965. Elfriede was a lifelong homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her family. She was an excellent home cook with a focus on a variety of German dishes. Elfriede and Frank both loved to travel, often returning to Germany, Switzerland and Austria for their vacations. She also enjoyed bowling in a Bowie women’s league for many, many years. Elfriede enjoyed gardening, walking, and most of all water aerobics at the Belair Swim and Raquet Club where she had many friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD 21114. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Elfriede’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in her honor.
