Mr. Macat was a U.S. Air Force Veteran with 21 years of service. While in the service he was a meat cutter that ended up a flight steward for the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. While in the Air Force he worked part-time for A&P (later known as Super Fresh). When retired he was threatened with layoffs, he then went to work for Giant Food. He received several awards from the President and Owner Israel (Izzy) Cohen in person. He retired from Giant Food in 1999. He loved surf fishing at Cape Hatteras, N.C. His wife died in 1997.
He is survived by three children, two sisters, and one grandson.
