Gary was born on May 25, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to Charles and Betty Vollmer. He was the first of three children, and is predeceased by his brother, Larry Edward Vollmer.
Gary graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1960, and upon graduation joined the U.S. Navy. Two years later, after he completed his tour of duty, he married Delores Ann Thompson. They had one son. Gary and Ann later divorced. Gary remarried Suellen (Suzy) Marie Krieg in 2007; divorced 2016.
Gary is survived by his sister Kathy, his son Gary Wayne, four grandchildren, Ann, Suzy, and many friends.
A visitation for Gary will be held Monday, September 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, Maryland 20715.
His funeral service will follow 1:00 PM, 16000 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, Maryland 20715.
He will be buried at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722 following his services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
