George Henry Davis was born on July 14, 1937 in Washington, D.C. He went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2023. He passed peacefully at home in his little room, which was his favorite place to be. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean; his children, Terri Rosasco (Mickey), Deborah Davis, Bill Davis (Stephanie), Carolyn Hawley (Patrick), Sue Bailey (Bill), and Mike Davis (Chrissy). George was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Mary (Joliffe) Davis and loving son Richie Davis. He was also a loving “Grampy” to his 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. George was an avid gun collector, maintaining the collection all the way to the end. He loved his trucks and would not part with them for any reason tinkering with them whenever he could! He spent his days with his wife at home enjoying his short lived retirement. He was a history buff and loved watching the history channel and having hearty discussions with his loving grandson in law, Dave Stallings. George worked as a Local 99 Master HVAC Mechanic/Stationary Engineer and continued working up until he was 82 years old, driving back and forth to Washington, D.C. five days a week to the job that gave him such joy. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 99. George enjoyed tinkering with all things mechanical and was always there to lend words of advice and wisdom. George, Dad, Gramps, or Grampy- however you knew him- he was a loving and kind man who lived to work, loved his friends, and his family, and was never afraid to try something new.
