

James Owens, 90, a 54 year resident of New Carrolton, MD, went to the Lord on March 17, 2017 after a sudden illness. James, known to his family and friends as Jim, was born on July 22, 1926 and was raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. James was a greyhound bus driver for most of his life.
In his early life Jim was a Corporal in the US Army during WWII. James enjoyed attending Grace Baptist Church and was long time member of the American Legion Post 217. Jim also enjoyed working in his yard, traveling and going dancing. Jim will be most remembered for his incredible smile and ability to make others laugh.
Jim was married for 63 years to his loving wife Joan Joyce Owens, and they were blessed with four loving children; Gary Owens, Randall Owens both of Odenton, MD, Debra (Daniel) Mullaney of Selbyville, DE. And Linda (Richard) Kriner of Bowie, MD, one grandchild, Brenda (Matt) Spear, two great Grandchildren Ayden Spear and Kylee Spear all of Elkridge, MD
MARYLAND
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 5-7 PM with a memorial service at 7PM, at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie MD
VIRGINIA
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 12:30PM to 1:30PM at the Finch and Finch Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Altavista, VA 24517
Following the viewing, friends and family can also pay respects at the graveside service at 2 PM following the viewing, in the Altavista Memorial Park Cemetery 642 Wards Road, Altavista, VA 24517
