Beautiful spirit. You will be missed. Love

The love of my life left me on December 23rd, My Mommy, my best friend, my confidant, my protector, my Angel. The loss of my Mom took my breath away, and at times I can breath and at others I am holding my breath. My Mom has impacted this world in a way I thought was normal, but I realize the admiration and love I had for my Mommy was not something that everyone experiences. Reading through this book and all the love people have for my Mommy makes me realize that Gift God bestowed upon me. Although I miss her Everyday, I am so incredibly thankful to God for making her my Mom.

Our sincerely condolences go out to the entire family.
Aunt Joann, you are dearly missed but never forgotten. The love you shared runs deep and wide. You touched our lives in so many ways. We thank God for you.

Joan was true professional and a wonderful co-worker.May she rest in peace .

I will miss our laughter. I will miss our philosophical banter. I met you in 1999.. And we became instant friends. You are forever etched in my mind and heart. May you rest in peace. Dr. Joan Jackson. Dr. Donna R. Walton

To my mentor, my friend, my sister, my inspiration. Dr. Joan Jackson hired me 13 yrs. ago at DC/RSA. She has encouraged me in my education. She once shared with me some wise words, when she said "time is going to past it might as well past with you doing something" I now have a BSW in Social Work from UDC and I am currently attending GWU for Rehab Counseling as she encouraged me to do this because she knew I would be good at it. She taught be well!!!

As a supervisor you were a rarity. We were a small unit but you sure Ms Hunt and myself were exposed to the latest developments in rehabilitation We were always challenged to do more and do it better. You demonstrated how we could grow as Black professional women and not loose touch with the clients that we served. Your love of family was always foremost for you in the love and guidance you have your grandchildren. May the values and memories you leave behind console them at this time.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the lost of your love one Dr. Joan Kathleen Jackson. My prayers are with the family and all who will miss her presence. May God rest on you all in this challenging time.

Dr. Jones left a superb legacy for her friends and family to follow. It does not end here, this is only the beginning! Jeremiah 29:11

Dearest Cuzzo,

I will surely Miss You a great deal..!!

Your Spirit was always Available and Poignant.

You always had Soft Ears to Listen and a Soft Voice to speak. I will Miss your Smile, your Demeanor and you Cunning persona.

We shared in depth conversation across the board, which I found you to be wise and caring. I would often jest that you'd missed your calling in Radio with that Soft and Sultry voice of yours, which would grant us Laughter as I said..."You better Work It Baby".

Trust...My Words are not nearly enough to convey the Void within my Heart.

You would regularly extend hospitality of visitations which I will also miss with countless Memories.

Trust...My Words are not nearly enough to convey the Void within my Heart.

You will Live in those very Memories and within my Heart, I shall Love and Miss You Always!

Your Cousin....
Denise

Dear Grandma,

I will miss your smile and unconditional love. I will miss our long talks and debates about life. I look up to you so much as a woman and educator. You are my world, and I speak in the present tense because you are always here in my heart. You were one of my best friends and my mommy and aunt's also. You have a trait that is rare to come by these days, you are a listener. You genuinely took the time to read people's problems but not judge. I could always talk to you without feeling ashamed. You humble me, and even when I did something bad as a young child..it was "never that bad". I brag about you to all my friends because I have the best grandma ever. You will always be my superlady grandma. I love you Dr. Jackson :)

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Jackson for two years in the partnership between UDC Community College and the Dept. on Disability Services, Rehab. Svcs. Admin. (RSA). Avetta, you, and I worked well together in supporting mutual students (consumers if ours) in helping so many to matriculate in higher education with accommodations as needed. You were pleasant to work with, a soft-spoken spirit. You have left your work to carry on (for the time being) with a reliable and well-equipped colleague, Avetta. May you rest in God's loving arms now, Dr. Jackson; you earned it!
