Johnny was born in Washington, DC. He was the beloved husband of Sorecia “Donell” Bladen for the past 64 years. He was also the devoted father to Michelle Baxter (Darryl) and Cherie Leigh Greenlee (Earl), and brother to William (Billy) Bladen.
He was a proud grandfather (Pop Pop) to DJ Baxter (Mallory), Taylor Sterling (Jordan), Troy Greenlee (Katie), Dara Vaughn (Nate), and loving great-grandfather to Braxton Greenlee, Kynsleigh and Johnni Kate Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his father John H. Bladen, Sr., his mother Nellie “Mitzi” Bladen, and his beloved great-grandson Cayden Greenlee.
Johnny was a hard-working man who spent many years as a tile setter before opening his own business, Johnny’s Tile & Marble, in 1981. He took great pride in his work and in building something of his own through determination and talent.
In his younger years, he could often be found hanging out with his friends at Seabrook Garage, racing his go-kart or his beloved 1931 Ford hot rod. He enjoyed Sunday drives with his family through the government farms, playing horseshoes, cutting grass, attending car shows, spoiling their dog Coco, and watching Family Feud as well as many other shows.
Cars were a true passion for Johnny. He was a member of the Asphalt Angels, where he earned numerous awards and trophies with his 1968 Ford Ranchero. He was also a longtime member of the College Park Roadrunners Camping Club, where he and his family traveled up and down the East Coast making memories and enjoying countless adventures together.
He worked hard, loved his family deeply, and took pride in the things he enjoyed. His stories, his sense of humor, his stubborn streak, and all of those little things that made him Johnny will be missed more than words can say.
Johnny’s greatest legacy will not be the business he built, the trophies he won, or the cars he loved, but the family, friends, and memories he leaves behind. The lessons he taught, the skills he passed down, the stories shared, and the time spent together will continue on through all of us who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 11:00-1:00pm at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home in Bowie, Maryland. Johnny, you fought hard for a long time. You are loved, you are missed and you will always be a part of us.
