Joy Ann Porter

Joy Ann Porter, 71, a longtime resident of Crofton and currently of Gambrills, died October 11 , 2013. Born in London, England she was daughter of the late Stanley Emerton and Doris Sweeney. She was the beloved wife of the late Sumter Allen Porter, Jr. whom she was married to for 47 years.

She is survived by four children, Arta “Joanne” Smallwood of Shady Side, Anita “Jeanne” Porter of Annapolis, Bradley A. Porter of Crofton and Jeffrey A. Porter of Aurora, CO; one sister, Eileen Tibbert, and one brother, Leslie Emerton, both of England; eleven grandchildren, Albert Niemann of Arnold, Charles “Chuck” Joeckel of Annapolis, Tammy Joeckel of Florida, Jake , Brooke , Jenna and Krista Porter, all of Crofton, Hailey Porter of Murphy, NC and Addison, Olivia and Zachary Porter of Aurora, CO; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 17 at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd. Bowie, MD 20715 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where a funeral service will be held Friday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m.
