almost a year ago you were diagnosed...almost a year ago one of the strongest women I know said to the doctor "I want to go home, we have some talking to do"... never a tear came from your eyes... all of the time that I spent with you each night over the years and my most cherished time was the week before we were able to get you into the hospital...I stayed next to you, slept next to you - our middle of the night talks, but NEVER a good bye came from either of us... you always said it was "see you later"... I miss you so much, sometimes I cry, but I still hold on to my faith and I pray and God holds me close and then I'm ok again... we are human, we falter...and the falter with me is the sadness that sometimes creeps up on me, even though it is much better - you are so much a piece of me - in my heart and in my memories...sometimes I am at a stoplight and a flashback of a year ago happens and then I get upset...only at not being able to talk to you - if I had anything I could wish for, it would be to talk to you...oh and get a hug (so that's two things!)... what a wonderful gift God gave me when he gave me to you...Love you so much Joycie - you were and still are my best friend...yer kid

It has been almost 6 months since you left us to be with the Lord.  I have grown so much in these months, spiritually... I've learned that God can bring us through the storms we have set before us, all we have to do is ask and believe...I've learned there is no greater love than the love of God, who wipes away our tears and holds us in His loving arms...I've learned that the love of friends is an extension of God's love so that we may be able to feel that embrace in the physical world...I've learned that guilt is evil and that it clouds the beautiful memories of love (so no more guilt!)... There truly is no greater love than that from our Father in Heaven, who is sad when we are sad and who is there, waiting for us to open our arms to Him and ask Him to take away our sadness, troubles and pain...I miss you so much, but I know that you are in a beautiful place, a place where I will see you again, a place where I will get my hugs again and there will be no more pain, no more tears - just love...Your time on earth was complete, He has plans for you in Heaven now...and God has more plans for me here and I'm excited to see what He has in store for the remainder of my time!  I have thanked Him for giving me to you - a beautiful woman who loved me with all her heart... I have ask Him every day to hug you and daddy and I've asked Him to have you both hug Him back for me!  I know you are watching over us, I know you see the GIANT steps that I have taken and I know you are cheering me on!  There are still tears, but not tears of sadness, mostly tears when I'm smiling and thinking of you.. I do so miss not being able to talk to you like I used to... no more evenings of yapping, telling you funny things or things that are on my mind... but I know you know what is going on and I just look up and talk to you...I went to the Women of Faith Revival this weekend - it reminded me of when we went together to see Joel Osteen...You would have loved this!  Some of my girls were with me and it truly opened my eyes and has set my feet on a firmer path towards God...I love you with all my heart Joycie, I miss you, but I will see you when God chooses...until that time, I'll ask you again to hug everyone for me - and give an extra hug to Jesus, He surely needs one, He's really had to do some extra duty with me!! Thankfully, I've got it now..Praise God, I have it now...XOXOXOX

Almost three months have passed - Mother's Day is this weekend...I thought I'd be ok, but I've already started dreading it.  Gosh, I look at your picture and talk to you... tell you how much I miss you...Chris and I have taken over with Abby - she's learned to sit and stay... she's such a love...we think of her as an extension of you - so we hug on her a lot...I know you are dancing in heaven, I know you are out of pain - my counseling classes will start soon through hospice - I've been told they will help with the guilt.. Why guilt?  Well, did you and I make the right decision not to do chemo (even though the doctor agreed we were doing the right thing)...and if I stop grieving so much, what does that say about the love I have for you?  That's the hardest part... but you told me not to do this - so I am trying, I'm really trying...but it isn't a faucet, it isn't something I can just turn off... I am so thankful for all of my friends who gather around me still... they know, they know what I'm feeling and going through...my poor family loves me and is dealing with a sad mom and wife, but they are there for me too...We will be putting flowers on your grave Sunday and planting your favorite flowers in the yard - I don't want a big deal made for me that day - I want it to be a remembrance day for you... that will make me happy....Chris said the other day he misses his "babe"...I love you Joycie - it just still breaks my heart that you aren't here...I'm still waiting for my kiss on the cheek :)  Give daddy and nanny and pop, Uncle Chuck, Harry, Bobby and everyone else a hug, including Father God... I miss everyone, but I miss you most of all (God is helping me through this)  XOXOX

It is now over 5 weeks since you left us to be with the Lord... I hear your voice, I hear your laugh...It is better, but I miss you so much... the ache in my heart is still there, my tears come and go - I try to remember all the fun times...it's just so different without you here with us...I tell people that the best way to describe it is that we were both blessed, because this beautiful woman held me when I came into the world and I was the one that held her as she left this world...I held you tightly because I knew as you took your last breath, that it would be the last time I would hold you again for some time - but I will hold you again in heaven one day...I'm trying to be better with the grief, I read your notes to me and I know you don't want me grieving and not enjoying life...it will get better, pinkie swear...love you with all my heart Joycie...a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck...forever and always

It is almost 3 weeks since you left us - it feels like forever. You were not only my mom, but my best friend.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of you or ask God to wrap you in his loving arms and hug you for me. I walk around your apartment, lost and crying, I know you wouldn't want me doing it, but I am so very sad...I miss your kisses and hugs, I miss your laugh and the movies and shows we watched together each night..it's not the same without you here..I miss you more than I can ever put into words.. I am so thankful for the years we had together and even the precious time we had before you left us.  There isn't a thing I wouldn't have done for you, there isn't a thing I would change or try to do better, my only wish is that I could have had more time with you, but it would never, ever be enough time... you were my girl, my Joycie, my heart...love you so much

I know you're watching over us. You have the best daughter on the planet. She lived up to everything she promised you and more. You left such a bright spot in everyone's hearts, and the house will never be the same without you. I won't forget the promises I have made to you. Thank you for being in our lives. I love you.
