Kathleen T. (Kitty) Linebaugh April 4, 1932 to January 8, 2020
Kathleen (Kitty) Linebaugh of Bowie, MD, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, at Prince George’s Hospital, with family at her bedside.
Kitty was born in Cascade, MD. She was one of seven children of Lloyd and Ruth Sanders. She is survived by one brother, Raymond Sanders, who lives in Sabillasville, MD. The two enjoyed weekly phone calls up until her passing.
She met her future husband Earl while in her teens. They married when he went into the service. While stationed in Augusta, GA, they had their only child, Linda. After his discharge from the Army, he began a career with the Department of Defense, where he worked in civilian personnel. This career took the family to live in Germany and France where Kitty was involved in the wives’ club activities on base in Frankfurt, Verdun, and Paris. They returned to live in New Carrollton, MD in the late 1960’s.
After their daughter married, they went for one final two year assignment to Thailand. Following that, they returned to New Carrollton, where Kitty enjoyed being a homemaker and taking a part time position in retail at Best Products.
Following the death of her husband in 1989, she soon moved to Bowie, MD to be near her daughter and grandsons. This was what she loved most, being with her family, and being a full-time pet mom to a number of very spoiled dogs and cats over the years. She leaves behind two beloved dogs and one cat.
Kitty prided herself on being a very independent and feisty senior who made her own decisions right up until she was called to be with her Heavenly Father.
She enjoyed being with family and had attended a Christmas get together where she had the opportunity to be with her grandsons and great grandchildren for what would be one final happy visit.
Kathleen was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Bowie. She attended regularly until her spinal stenosis made it too difficult to attend. After that she became a regular viewer of television religious services. Her faith and belief in God was important and constant throughout her lifetime.
She leaves behind her family who loved her and will miss her. She has one daughter, Linda Harbaugh (husband Jerry King, deceased), who resides in Bowie, MD. Her older grandson, Ronald L. Harbaugh, resides in Crofton, MD with his wife Denise and their daughter, Josephine. Kathleen’s younger grandson, Dustin L. Harbaugh, resides in Owings, MD. His son Benjamin C. Kennedy resides in Baltimore, MD. Dustin’s daughter, Kate Harbaugh is a student at Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD. In addition to her older brother, Raymond Sanders, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, and friends.
A private family prayer service will be held. Kathleen’s final resting place will be at a family burial plot in Fairfield, PA.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 1900 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD 20716 or to your favorite local animal shelter, since she was a lover of all animals
