Lester Gene Williams, Sr.

Lester was born in New London, NC on July 26, 1946 to the late James Robert Williams, Sr. and Virginia Raymelle Owens Williams. Lester was the fourth of six children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Williams, Jr., and Isaiah Williams; his sister, Lela Angelena Williams Watkins. He graduated from Kingville High School in Stanly County, and shortly after, was drafted into the Army, where he served during the Vietnam War. Lester was a member of The Little Zion AME Zion Church.

Many years he worked as a glass installer. Following his retirement, he enjoyed cooking his favorite meals - he was a great cook - and enjoyed watching old westerns and sports. His favorite teams included the Washington Commanders, Nationals, Wizards, and Capitals.

Lester will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Williams; his daughter, Monica Williams-Bynum (Oscar); his sons, Lester Gene Williams, Jr., Jermaine Dawson, and Keith Dawson; his brother, Reverend Henry Kent Williams; his sister, Virginia Davis (John); his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, located at 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715, on September 29, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The funeral service will also take place at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home on September 29, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm.
