On July 24, 2021, Lionel Macklin finished all four quarters and is now starting a new game. He was 62 years of age and influenced and mentored many young men and women.
Lionel was born to Charles and Betty on October 10, 1958 in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York. Lionel, or as many knew him, Coach Mack, loved his family, football, and positively impacting the lives of all the people he met. As a coach and educator for multiple decades at Bowie High, Tall Oaks, and C.E. Reig, he constantly brought joy and motivation to hundreds of students, players, and co-workers. Anything he did or said was known to change lives and stay with people forever. He was fondly known for all of his sayings, some would call them "Mackisms."
He is survived by his wife Christine, his children Travis and Linnel, his brothers Mike and Reggie as well as his nephew Kevin and nieces Kia and Trina.
