Lucille Agnes Mayhew

Lucille Mayhew, a resident of Bowie, Maryland for over fifty years, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Lucille was the youngest child of Giuseppe Russo and Theresa Filardo Russo. She graduated from The Sacred Heart Academy in Washington DC in 1949, and lived in Italy for three years. She was married in 1955 (and later divorced). She worked as sales person for Sears in Bowie and Annapolis for over thirty years. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, and a passionate gardener. Lucille is the mother of Kathleen Thornhill (of Mitchellville, MD), Edward Mayhew, Jr. (of Vonore, TN), Robert Mayhew (of Hillsborough, NJ), and Valerie Rankin (of Bowie, MD); she is the grandmother of Wendy, Jessica, Jacob, Hannah, Leo, Max, Samantha, Zachary, Tessa, Emily, and Tabitha; and the great-grandmother of Kris, C. J., Ray, Kylie, Piper, and Adelaide. And she was fondly regarded as a grandmother by Brad, Jessica, and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Cleo, Mary, Gene, Allie, Teddy, and Tillie. The Mayhew Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland from 2 to 2:30 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 pm.
