Margaret, fondly called “Bambi” by her family, was born to Milton and Anne Zarchin on February 21st 1942, in Plattsburgh, New York. She graduated from Hunter College and then earned her master’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Special Education from Bowie State University.
Teaching was her passion and it seemed that Margaret had taught, worked with, and/or mentored all members of the Bowie, Maryland community. She could not go anywhere without running into someone she did not know. She served as a Master Teacher/ Therapist and later director at the Bowie Therapeutic Nursery School. She finished her career with the Prince George’s County Public School system as a Special Education teacher for delayed and autistic infants and toddlers.
In her spare time, she loved gardening, sewing, cooking, writing stories for her book, reading, collecting teapots and nutcrackers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her husband Ed, her sons Edward, Christopher (Lisa) and Michael (Kim), her daughter Anne-Marie (Carlos Jr.), her grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher, Joshua, Michayla, Collin, Ryan, Carlos, Manolo, and Miguel.
She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on May 31st at Holy Family Catholic Church, 12010 Woodmore Rd, Mitchellville, MD 20721. A repast for family and friends will be held afterwards at the Hall of Church. Margaret’s favorite color was blue, as we celebrate her life, we ask that you wear something blue.
