She grew up in Catonsville, MD with her sister Eileen which preceded her in death. She worked as a typist proofreading and in a factory. She moved to Riverdale and met her husband Joel Grant Hersh in 1969. They soon had a son, Joel Grant Hersh and then a daughter Dawn Rose Hersh that later married Timothy Carter.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1994. She remained a widow and adored her grandchildren: David Slaton, the late Joel “Grant” Hersh IV, Hannah Carter, and Jonathan Carter. She also loved wildlife and taking photos of nature.
She had a special bond with animals and loved her many cats. Her “artwork” was also displayed around her house as she knew long before it was popular that adult coloring soothes the soul.
Her children would like to say thank you to Doctors Community Rehab Center for all the care given to our mom.
