Norma Mae Pack was born on July 14, 1937, to Reinhart and Arlene (Koehler) Drewelow in the town of New Hampton, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. While growing up, she worked her family’s farm and after graduating from New Hampton high school in 1955, she and her high school friends, Beverly (Kayser) Peters and Judy Doyle left Iowa to work at the FBI in Washington, DC. There they enjoyed their youth by working hard, going on beach trips, playing softball and living off of spaghettiOs and hotdogs when they ran short of funds.
Norma was united in marriage to Wayne M. Pack on April 7, 1962, at Grace Lutheran Church in Washington, DC. Soon after the wedding, the couple purchased a home and settled down in Bowie, Maryland. From this union three children were born, David, Julie, and James.
Norma enjoyed caring for her children & grandchildren, gardening, playing cards, fishing and relaxing at the ocean. Anyone who visited her home had to have coffee and homemade goodies. She often hosted pool parties for her children and grandchildren and their friends. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her generosity, her hospitality and good food, her whole body laugh, her loyalty to friends and love of family and her enjoyment of the Macarena dance.
