Obituary of Olin W. Casey, Sr.
Olin Wilbur Casey, Sr. was born on November 13, 1945, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Elizabeth N. Casey and Olin A Casey. Olin was a patriot and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years where he mentored many junior airmen and employees throughout his service. He retired from the Air Force in 1985 and started working for the U.S. government until his retirement in 2016. During his life as a civilian many of his mentees continued to seek his counsel. He was also a Prince Hall Free Mason and Shriner. He managed many of their fundraising events where he raised tens of thousands of dollars for various Veteran support groups. Olin was a big proponent of education and put his children through college first and then went back to school himself and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in 1994. His degree is still proudly hanging today as you enter their home. Olin was a great listener and big consumer of information. He always asked if he could give you advice before just giving it. The family all thought he was hard of hearing because he would have the TV on in every room, but that wasn't the case. He didn’t want to miss anything, so no matter what he was doing, he was always listening and learning. Not a day went by when he wasn't learning something new. His most recent project was the creation of his own music catalog to track his music collection. Olin was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth N. Casey and Olin A. Casey and one brother Thomas K. Casey. Olin leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 56 years, Zara Z. Casey of Bowie, MD, son Olin W. Casey, Jr. (Tracey) of Vancouver, WA, daughter Zina M. Casey (Joel) of Sykesville, MD, two brothers, William Casey (Paulette) of Waldorf, MD and Timothy Casey (Pam) of White Plains, MD, four grandchildren Alycia B. Casey, Devon A. Casey, Jacob M. Casey and Xavier M. Casey and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A visitation for Olin will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the funeral service will follow 1:00 PM, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
