Patricia was born on November 24, 1948 in Washington, DC, the daughter of Vincent Bartolillo, Jr. and Margaret Bartolillo (Davis). A graduate of High Point High School, Class of 1966, Patricia attended the University of Maryland where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta and graduated with a degree in anthropology.
Patricia married John Hugue in 1973 and they had their daughter, Diana Hugue, in 1981. While the marriage did not last, John and his second wife, Michelle Hugue, remained a close part of her family. Patricia was overjoyed to learn she would become a grandmother in 2011 and again in 2017. Words cannot express what a truly devoted mother and grandmother she was.
Patricia worked as a computer programmer for the federal government, spending time at the Navy Yard, the Pentagon, and the Department of Labor during her career.
A lifelong learner, Patricia took courses in Kimekomi doll making, American Sign Language, roller skating, EMT training, Ham radio, locksmithing, and drawing. She dabbled in piano, ukelele, and bodhrán and greatly enjoyed being a member of the Bowie Senior Chorale. Along with her daughter, she learned how to juggle and taught many others the skill at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. She partnered with her sister to create Giovanna’s Fabric Arts and was a frequent vendor at local craft shows. For many years, Patricia competed (and placed!) in a local gingerbread house competition.
Patricia was a strong believer in helping others, donating to a variety of charities, volunteering at Traveler’s Aid at Union Station and the Bowie Senior Center, and giving numerous gallons of blood over her lifetime. In 2005, she volunteered with FEMA in Louisiana to help survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
An avid reader, Patricia was a frequent library visitor. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, an interest passed along to her daughter, who sadly does not possess her mother’s skill level.
Remaining to cherish Patricia’s memory are her daughter, Diana Hugue; granddaughters Abigail and Charlotte Hugue; brother-in-law James Wallace, nieces and nephews Andrea Tao (nee Wallace), James Wallace.
Preceding Patricia in death are parents Vincent Bartolillo, Jr. and Margaret Hight (formerly Bartolillo, nee Davis); sister Mary Joan Wallace (nee Bartolillo); and former spouse John Hugue. She was also predeceased by her ferrets, two cats, and beloved dog, Foxy.
