Robert Saxton Watson of Bowie, MD passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 due to complications from a fall. The beloved husband of Nancy Janette; devoted father of Dale R. (Jane), Douglas A. (Linda), Brian E. and Lynn K. (Paul); grandfather of Devin, Dustin, Robert (Megan) and Rebecca; great-grandfather of Claire. He was born in Michigan in 1928, served in the Marines from 1946 to 1948, graduated from Michigan State in 1952, and later worked for the Goddard Space Flight Center for 26 years, retiring in 1988. An avid athlete and musician, he loved to tease everyone he met. He enjoyed nothing more than being with family and friends, gazing at the stars and putting pickle relish on everything he ate. Relatives and friends will gather at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Glenn Dale United Methodist Church, 8500 Springfield Road, Glenn Dale, MD from 10 am until time of Funeral Service at 11 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glenn Dale United Methodist Church.
