Suzanne Marie (Davis) Grogan was called home to heaven on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 after a prolonged illness. Suzanne entered this world on September 30, 1964 in Washington DC near Bowie Maryland where she grew up. Suzanne attended local schools and upon graduation from Bowie High School in 1982 completed a secretarial program at Washington School for Secretaries. But despite her father’s urging, Suzanne was not ready for the secretarial pool and her love for the kitchen prevailed. Suzanne worked as a butcher, a chef and a waitress in several grocery stores, restaurants and bars in Maryland and for a brief stint in New Rochelle, NY. While her time in New York was short, her familial ties and love for the area were strong, as was her accent among certain company. On St. Patrick’s Day 2001, Suzanne married Chris Grogan at her sister Christine’s home in Bowie. Although the marriage was short-lived, their son Dustin was a cherished gift and the one true love of Suzanne’s life. After Dustin’s birth Suzanne was finally ready to get behind a typewriter (which had since become a computer) at Beltway Transportation Service, her family’s charter bus company in Forestville where she worked until her passing. Suzanne made their home in Odenton Maryland where she surrounded herself with friends and dedicated her nights and weekends to Dustin’s GORC football and lacrosse teams. Suzanne’s two favorite pastimes were feeding people and watching football. Consequently, nothing made her happier than combining the two, whether at a Redskins tailgate or on the sidelines of Dustin’s game. Her gracious smile, generous heart and unceasing offer to cook will be missed by many.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents, Jay Francis and Kathleen Ann Davis and her sisters Patricia Davis and Christine (Davis) Vaughan. Left to honor Suzanne and remember her love are her son Dustin Quinn Grogan, step-son Ryan Grogan, their father Christopher Grogan, her brother Michael Davis and his wife Andrea, brother-in-law Michael Vaughan, nieces Nicole, Kendall, Rose and Ruby and nephews Jay and Max. Family and friends will be received at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm, Friday, January 8, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 16501 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 12 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016.
