Cherished sister, aunt, and beloved companion
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, and companion Tina Louise (Huffman) Ridgley on December 31, 2025. Born in Washington DC to Everett Arlon Huffman and Anne Kathleen (Stevens) Huffman in 1961, Tina grew up in Lanham Maryland and was the third of five daughters. Tina was athletic and as a teenager was a member of St Bernard’s softball team as well as a member of a slow pitch adult league. She also participated in several Susan B Komen 5K “races for the cure” events. Tina loved music and was a talented violinist; she also played the piano.
After graduating from DuVal High School in 1979, Tina began working for the Department of Agriculture as a secretary. It was there that she became interested in computers. Through college coursework and training Tina became a talented IT professional. She worked as a computer programmer, a database developer and eventually was an accomplished and well-respected Senior Systems Analyst for a national health care company.
Tina was an avid reader and at times read several books at once. She also learned to crochet and made beautiful scarves and blankets for family and friends. Tina loved to cook and explored recipes from many different cultures which she made and shared with others. Tina loved animals, especially birds and over the years had a collection including an African grey parrot, a Conure, a Cockatiel, parakeets and finches. She also had two miniature pinchers, Skipper and Susie, which she loved dearly.
During summer weekends, Tina and Bob (her partner) enjoyed riding their boat on the Potomac river, where they would spend time enjoying the outdoors. Afterwards they would meet up with friends on their floating dock for a barbecue, sharing good food and conversation. Tina also enjoyed traveling and driving her classic 2004 red Corvette.
Preceding her in death are her parents Everett and Kathy Huffman, and her beloved minpins Skipper and Susie.
Tina is survived by her loving partner Robert Hixon, sisters Dana Smith (Robert), Michele Hurt (John), Lisa Huffman (Lisa Siebenmann), Mary Huffman-Thombs (Everett), nieces Anna Booth, Amelia Smith (Kevin Dorsey), Emma Hexter (Christopher), Bailey Hurt, nephew Cole Booth, and great-nephews Everett Hexter and Benjamin Dorsey.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the Spring, 2026.
