

Beloved and devoted husband of the late Carmina "Bobbie" Checchia Linton who died in 1991.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. Linton and Ethel Long Linton of Cape Charles, Virginia; sisters Elsie Cutler, Lucille Linton and Marion Cruz.
He is survived by his brother Robert T. Linton of Cape Charles, Virginia and his sister, Sharon L. Kondra of Tacoma, Washington.
Walter was a competitive athlete and enjoyed many sports during his life. He led an active life well into his eighties still playing golf and billiards.
He served in the US Army 1936-1945 and reenlisted in the US Air Force 1945-1966 when he retired as a Master Sergeant. He went on to work as as a civilian as the golf course manager at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina until 1984.
He moved to calvert Pines, Prince Frederick, Maryland in 1998 and for the last seven years Walter has resided with his sister-in-law Betty "Nina" Checchia Orndorff and niece Julia "Metzi" McWilliams of Owings, Maryland.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD 20715 where a prayer service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
Immediately following there will be a luncheon in celebration of Walter's life at the Yellow Fin Restaurant located at 2840 Solomans Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
The Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date.
