William Edward "Billy" Marshall Jr., lovingly known as "Pop" to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 78, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
Born on July 10, 1947, in Washington, D.C., Billy was the son of William Edward Marshall Sr. and Gertrude "Googie" Marshall. He was raised in Kentland, Maryland, where he would proudly—and often humorously—insist he grew up on the "good side" of town.
Billy lived life to the fullest and found joy in the simple things. He loved fishing, golfing, gardening, cooking, and ending the day with a cold beer on the veranda. He had a sharp wit and a playful sense of humor. If Billy gave you a hard time, you knew you had earned a place in his heart. His loyalty, generosity, and ability to make everyone around him laugh made him a cherished friend and companion.
Billy spent his career as an office machinery repairman, but to those who knew him, there wasn't much he couldn't fix. Whether it was a broken appliance, a stubborn engine, or a household project, family and friends knew they could count on him. More importantly, he loved sharing what he knew. Billy took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren the skills he had learned throughout his life, passing down his love of gardening, making homemade pickles, maintaining cars, and tackling life's everyday challenges with confidence and ingenuity.
Above all, Billy was devoted to his family. As "Pop," he shared a special and unique bond with each of his six grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he delighted in spending time with them, teaching them, teasing them, and making memories they will treasure forever.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Bo White, whom he adored; his former wife, Linda Marshall; his sons, Billy Marshall and Michael Marshall; his stepchildren, Bob, Dawn, Kevin, and Cheryl; and his cherished grandchildren, Rebecca, Katie, Chase, Connor, Flora, and Anna.
A funeral service celebrating Billy's life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 1690 Riedel Road, Crofton, Maryland 21114. A Celebration of Life with heavy hors d'oeuvres will immediately follow at Crofton Country Club, 1691 Crofton Parkway, Crofton, Maryland 21114. All who knew and loved Billy are warmly invited to attend and celebrate a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to WLD Ranch, a place dedicated to enriching the lives of children and families. Donations may be made online at https://wldranch.campbraingiving.com/ or mailed to:

Billy leaves behind a legacy measured not only by the things he built and repaired, but by the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His family, friends, and all who knew him will forever remember his laughter, his wisdom, his unwavering loyalty, and the countless ways he made life richer for those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in every garden tended, every jar of pickles shared, every engine repaired, and every story told with a smile.
