Mary E. Leo

May 25, 1925October 22, 2019

LEO - Mary E. October 22, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Francis J. Leo; loving mother of Jack (Luanne) Leo and Dr. Elizabeth (Ben) Ciaravino; dearest grandmother of James (Carla Horta) Leo, Anne Marie (Bob Krickovich) Dixon, Kate (Jaime Gottlieb), Lauren Elizabeth (Lorena Sosa) Leo, and Marisa Ciaravino; dear great-grandmother of Jasmine and Darius Leo, Jackson, Frankie and Evie Gottlieb-Leo, and Adrianna Leo-Horta; sister of Gino (Loretta) and Angelo (Marion) Nichele. Family and friends may call Friday, October 25, 2:30-3 PM at St. Mary’s on the Hill, Lancaster, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 3 PM. Mary immigrated to America from Italy at age 3 and lived in Niagara Falls. She graduated from Trott Vocational HS and delivered a graduation speech entitled “Women in American History”. Married life of 63 years with her husband Fran was filled with helping raise the family, working the second shift at Moore, and caring for friends and family members through some difficult times. She and Fran loved music from the 40’s and 50’s, traveling, especially to Italy and throughout the USA. They lived for 33 years in Florida, where she was an avid bowler, bicycle rider and semi-professional bingo enthusiast. She was a volunteer escort at the hospital near their residence in Florida, always willing to help people. She was devoted to praying the rosary daily, praying for all her family and friends. Mary was Godmother to 25 children. She kept the family laughing with her witty and brash commentary in all situations, usually a bit louder than the family thought necessary. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY. Condolences at www.denglerrobertspernafuneral.com.
