

Carey, Scott, age 63, of Clarence Center, NY, passed away on November 8, 2025. Cherished husband of 29 years to Miriam (Costello) Carey; loving father of Arianna Carey and Jenna (Nick) Zimmerman; dearest son of the late Bernard and late Carol (Nichols) Carey; and son-in-law of Joan (late John) Costello; beloved brother of Brenda (Jerry) Lacotta and brother in-law of Sarah (Joseph) Schmucker; caring uncle of Patrick (Erin) Lacotta, Matthew Schmucker and Elizabeth (Joseph) Fox. Scott was expecting his first grandson in January. No prior visitation, A celebration of life will be held in December. Friends can contact the family for further details. Scott was born and raised in Jermyn, PA. He graduated in 1980 from Lakeland High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. Scott earned his Biomedical and Electrical Engineering degrees from Penn State University and moved to Upstate, New York in 1984 for his job at Geneva General Hospital. For the past 37 years, Scott worked for Philips Healthcare (formerly Hewlett Packard and Agilent), primarily in tech support for ventilators and as a field service engineer in echocardiogram and patient monitoring systems. In 1993, he met his wife, Miriam (nee Costello), and their greatest joy together was raising their two daughters, Arianna and Jenna. His love and dedication towards his family was unwavering, and he exemplified the true meaning of fatherhood. He adored his children and encouraged them at every sporting event, dance recital, and school concert/activity. Scott also enjoyed golf, traveling, playing basketball, exercising at the gym, and taking long walks and bike rides, often socializing with his neighbors along the way. Scott’s love for the outdoors was also immense and hunted each fall with his dad, uncle, and friends. Family traditions were especially important to him as well, with cookouts and bonfires highlighting many of his childhood memories. Scott was best known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and incredibly caring nature. He would help anyone who asked, going out of his way to lend a hand. His smiles and kindness will be remembered by the countless lives he has touched.
