Born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1943, he was a son of the late Grace L. (MacIntire) and Albert R. Astheimer.
He was employed by Altemose Construction, Teramics and later Prentiss Properties as a Project Management Executive for many years. Albert also worked as a Senior VP of Development Services for First Industrial Realty Trust. Through his years with First Industrial he was presented with many Development of the Year awards. Albert was a member of the Warren Lodge #310 F & AM and he was a former member of the Upper Salford Zoning Board. He also served in the USAF Reserves.
Albert, known as Dick to his family and friends, used his retirement years to work in his woodshop. He crafted many pieces of fine furniture to his exacting standards. He also loved cooking each night and especially during the holidays. His love of perfection shined through in these two hobbies. Through the years he had passing interests that included skiing, golf, watching F1 races and traveling. He also enjoyed cycling for several years. He completed numerous bike rides that spanned over the “century mark”. He shared each of his hobbies with his wife and children.
Dick had a knack and love for home restoration. He designed and built his first house in Woxall, Pennsylvania. This was only one of his many houses that he built/renovated or helped his family with. The house he owned in Warren, Vermont was literally and figuratively his top of the mountain achievement. That house defined Dick in so many ways.
Dick and his wife Sallie were passionate about their dogs. Dick loved dogs but truly loved his “dobies” – Doberman Pinchers. He had three rescue Dobermans in his life (Victor, Dante, and Raven) and was actively looking for a fourth when he passed.
Dick is survived by wife, Sallie A. (Yerger) Astheimer of Zieglerville. His children, Trevers S. Astheimer, husband of Rosemary Astheimer of Needam, MA, A. Ryan Astheimer, husband of Michaela Holt of Renton, WA, S. Amanda Astheimer, partner of Chris Myers of Fayston, VT, and Timothy G. Astheimer husband of Bridget McMahon of Zieglerville, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ayrton S Astheimer and Boris A Astheimer; brothers, J. Mark Astheimer, husband of Jeannie Astheimer of Harleysville, PA, and Robert E. Astheimer, husband of Karen Astheimer of Green Lane, PA.
