

Anthony A. Koch, age 88, husband of Gail (Flubacher) of Boyertown, PA passed away on January 24, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Reading, PA. Born on September 25, 1933, in Niantic, PA, he was the son of the late Genevieve (Henry) and Charles Koch.
Anthony is a graduate of Most Blessed Sacrament School in Bally, PA. He worked at Bally Case and Cooler in the Refrigeration Department as a Foreman. He was an active member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church in Boyertown, PA. Anthony is known for being an umpire for many local baseball and softball teams. He umpired for the Optimist Club’s little league baseball and softball teams, Lyons over 60 year league, Gilbertsville over 30 league, the local church league, Rising Sons, The King and his Court, and at the Boyertown Park. He did this for over 60 years. For many years he took a daily walk from his home on S. Reading Avenue to Boyertown Park. Anthony also coached little league football in the town. When he wasn’t on the field, he enjoyed playing pinochle, listening to country music, and watching the Phillies. For his 70th birthday, he and his family had a party at a Reading Phillies game where he got to throw the first ceremonial pitch.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Gail (Flubacher); sons, Stephen Koch husband of Lori of Reading, PA, Robert Koch of Jersey City, NJ; daughter, Kathy wife of Tom Undercuffler of Gilbertsville, PA; grandchildren, Danielle wife of Dave Wells, Scott Undercuffler, Melanie wife of Dalton Hall, Amy Koch; great-grandchildren, Dakota Wells, Drew Wells, and Allie Jean Hall; siblings, Peter Koch husband of Elizabeth of DE, James Koch husband of Leona of Pottstown, PA, Herman Koch husband of Paula of Oley, PA. Anthony is predeceased by his infant sons, David and Donald; siblings, Joseph Koch, Francis Koch, Teresa Derr, and Margaret Endy.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church in Boyertown, PA at 2 pm. A visitation will be held prior from 1 pm to 2 pm. Friends and family are encouraged to wear Phillies attire. There will be a coffee hour following the service.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
