Barbara W. Whitacre Schlegel

Born August 8th, 1927 in Colebrokedale, PA, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Schlegel, and parents John and Paula Whitacre.

She served her church, St. John’s Evangelical Church of Boyertown, for many years assisting with catechetical classes, Sunday school, and singing in the choir. She loved to sing and shared her talents with all who knew her, and sang regularly with the Kitchen Band. Barbara used her love of sewing and crafts in her role as Girl Scout Troop leader, as well as her personal hobbies. She is survived by daughter Sandra Buehner and her husband Edward of Plum, PA and son Joel Schlegel and his wife Sarah of Boyertown, PA; granddaughters Katie and Rachel Buehner; grandson John Schlegel; and sister Martha Mary (Robert) Moyer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:45am-1:15pm at St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 N Reading Ave, Boyertown, PA 19512. Followed by a funeral service at 1:30PM. Interment will follow in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville, PA.
