Barry Allen Sterner, age 67, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his residence. After facing a serious health battle, Barry passed peacefully, now at rest and free from suffering.
Born on February 23, 1958, in Pottstown, PA, Barry was the beloved son of the late Alice S. (Seyler) Sterner and Robert E. Sterner. Known for his incredible memory and thoughtful nature, Barry carried within him a deep well of reflection. Though there were seasons of quiet and hardship, in the latter years of his life, Barry’s spirit came alive—full of energy, humor, and a zest that brought joy to those around him.
Barry worked for many years as a cook at Beverly Manor and later served in custodial services at the Berks County Courthouse. He had a love for writing, a sharp mind for remembering even the smallest details from long ago, and a great appreciation for the game of pool. He was also a proud and devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Barry found comfort in moments of faith, occasionally attending services at St. Luke’s in Gilbertsville, PA, with his sister. His greatest joy, however, was time spent with family—whether in conversation, reminiscing, or simply being together. His laughter, stories, and presence will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda K., wife of Frank G. Gehringer of Barto, and Pamela J., wife of John B. Westerman of Phoenixville. He is also remembered with love by his uncles, Curtis Seyler and Ammon Seyler, both of Boyertown, as well as by his nieces, nephews, Jason Derr, Jessica Moore, Catherine Sheehan, Emily Gehringer, Ashley Westerman, Aaron Westerman and Amanda Westerman and their families. Barry was preceded in death by his sister, Diane M. Moore and nephew Jonathan Moore.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512.
