Bessie N. Phillips

Bessie N. Phillips, 93, of Boyertown, PA., wife of the late John W. Phillips, Jr. Passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. At the Golden Living Center in Exeter Twp.
Born in Laurens, SC. She was a daughter of the late Norma (Yoder) and Harry Park.
She was employed at the Frederick Mennonite Community in the Housekeeping Department for 20 years until her retirement in 1985.
Bessie was a member of Hereford Mennonite Church; now Butter Valley Community Church in Bally.She was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Choir, past secretary of the Evangelism committee, treasurer of the Woman’s Organization and an active member of the Frederick Mennonite Community Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons, Roy W., Sr. husband of Carol T. Phillips of Pennsburg. Jay H. husband of Linda C. Phillips of Boyertown. Daughters, Carol Ann wife of Charlie Mest of Exeter Twp. Judy M. wife Glenn Brand of Clarkston, WA. 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters also survive her. Bessie is predeceased by her daughter, N. Joanne Gehret and her grandsons, Jimmy Nicholas and Eric Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held at the Butter Valley Community Church. 2600 Old Route 100. Bally, PA. 18503. Monday, April 7, 2014. At 1:00 PM. Friends may call at the church Monday, from 11:15 AM to 12:45 PM. Interment will be in the Herford Mennonite Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bessie’s name to the Butter Valley Community Church Memorial Fund. Po Box 97 Bally, PA 18503.

At this time when words can't tell you all that our hearts would say, please know that this message brings our love and keeps you in our prayers. I am Nancy Bookheimer Kalmikoff, daughter of Esther Yoder Borneman Bookheimer, who was the daughter of Edith Yoder Borneman. Esther and Gene now live in Princeton, New Jersey at Acorn Glen Assisted Living. Although they were unable to travel to the funeral, their thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I wanted to express my condolences to to all of Bessie's family in their loss. I have such wonderful memories of my visit with Cousin Bessie the last time I visited Pennsylvania. I am the youngest son of Victor James Yoder who was the youngest son of Isaac C Yoder, father of Norma Yoder Park. I am planning a trip with my sister Evelyn, for the upcoming family reunion this September and look forward to seeing family members. My love and prayers are with you durning this difficult time.
