Doris M. Myers Sommers

Born in Hershey she was the daughter of the late Olive (Flowers) and John Myers. She was the widow of Elmo B. Sommers, MD.

She was a graduate of Palmyra High School and also Hannaman School of Nursing.

She was a nurse for a private practitioner and also worked in her husband’s practice. She was an active member of the Dance club of Boyertown and enjoyed playing Bridge also belonging to several clubs.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan S., widow of Harry S. Short of Pottstown; granddaughters, Michele D. Short, Doris D. Short, Kelly Achenbach, Rebecca Readinger; grandsons, Harry S. Short, Jr., Barton E. Short, Sean P. Sonnon, Albert T. Sonnon and Andrew Sonnon; also a daughter-in-law, Linda S. Radicelli. Predeceased by two sons, John B. and Philip L. Sommers and a granddaughter, Gail Short Malatesta .

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Sister Millicent J. Drake will officiate.

A viewing will be Saturday between 10 – 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, PA.
