Evelyn Cross

Evelyn A. Cross, age 98, of Boyertown, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She passed in her residence, with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of Harold P. Cross. Born in Philadelphia, PA at the Chestnut Hill Hospital on February 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Josephine (Marcella) Rosa.

Evelyn attended Chestnut Hill High School, Philadelphia, PA. During the summers of high school, she was employed by the National Biscuit Company, putting the tops on Oreos and packaging Saltines. After graduation, Evelyn worked as the assistant to the bathing suit buyer at Strawbridge and Clothier and later worked in the clerical pool of the subscription department at Curtis Publishing. After her children left home, Evelyn worked for AARP in customer service.

Evelyn is remembered as the matriarch of the Rosa family; the oldest of 7 siblings, a wife, a mother, and a friend. She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, knitting, and crafting. She sewed her children's clothes for most of their childhood years and has knitted countless blankets for family and friends. After moving into Walnut Woods (Boyertown, PA), she learned how to basket weave. Evelyn and her husband traveled extensively all over the country, road tripping and camping. They shared their love of travel with their children, taking countless trips as a family. She was a social person, having close relationships with family near and far. She made many friends at Walnut Woods and will be missed by many.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Thomas F. widower of Judy Cross of Downingtown, PA and Carol A. wife of Jeffrey T. Kanaskie of Boyertown, PA. Grandchildren, Lauren R. wife of Jacob Magnan of Long Island, NY and Kevin T. Kanaskie of Boyertown, PA. Great Grandchildren, Chloe R. Magnan and Charles T. Magnan. Siblings, Matthew J. Rosa and Joanne Schaffer. She is predeceased by her son James Cross in 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Columbkill's Church, 200 Indian Springs Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512 on Friday May 23, 2025 at 11:00am. A Visitation will be held prior at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, 111 N Reading Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512 from 9:30am to 10:30am.

Interment will be in Most Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Bally, PA.
