Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Mildred (Renninger) and Leonard Mathias.
She worked for Tung-Sol, Weidner’s Deli, the cafeteria at Earl Elementary School, H&R Block Tax Services and served as the Earl Township Tax Collector.
Joanne was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as a former church Treasurer, helped make Chow Chow, and was involved in many events.
Joanne is survived by her children, Judy L. wife of Jacob W. Dautrich of Fleetwood, PA. Jane A. wife of Robert Hetrick III of Panama, NY. And John J. “Chip” Groff husband of Angela L. of Jeromesville, OH, 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 1 on the way. Siblings, Leonard husband of Susan Mathias of Douglassville and Patti wife of William Knapp of Boyertown. Joanne is predeceased by her infant son James L. Groff who passed away in 1969 and great granddaughter Charlotte.
Funeral Services will be held at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc. 111 North Reading Ave. Boyertown, PA 19512 on Thursday August 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
Visitation will be held Thursday August 24, 2023 from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be held Thursday at Oley Cemetery Spangsville.
