Francoise and family, John will be dearly missed. I have missed his humor and his laugh. The times he would call Demaine just to say 'hello' were a true joy. He taught me about plants (I still have the Christmas cactus, althought the Mexican Oregano is long gone sadly) and you could see the love in his eyes when he did so. His love for his wife was always apparent, and he always had a kind word for me. John was a great guy, and I am blessed to have known him.

To all who loved John ... John and I were friends late in elementary school, through Aurora High School, Aurora, MO, and on to Drury College in Springfield, MO.  John was always a gentleman.  He was often my "escort" to  very young dances and to Drury our freshman year!  Talk about "green" freshmen"!!!  And so as often happens, we totally lost track of each other until very recently on facebook.  We were able to have only a few brief notes.He was a really fine person.  Cute that his son John shares his c
"crooked little smile" that shows on his last picture on FB.    RIP my fine friend.  I so remember you fondly!

John was a friend from (yes!)grade school and a frequent "escort" for dances at Aurora, Missouri High school, and even Drury College.  Talk about green college freshmen!  Somehow, we survived, tho. His aunt, my mother, loved him like a son, and the attachment was mutual. The feeling spread through the rest of us on both sides. I bet he is already volunteering at the welcome center in Heaven.

To our beloved extended family, We are so very sorry for your loss of a such a great man. From the day I met John, I felt an immediate connection and he helped replace the loss of my own father at such a young age. John's personality was unique and you always knew where you stood with him! He was the type of guy that would help anyone in the time of need and would give you the shirt off his back. He knew enough about everything but never forced his opinion...well, mostly! He loved a good joke and often shared some bad ones; especially on social media. Not sure who showed him how to do that, but I was laughing the other days just thinking about his crazy comments. John made the world a better place and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know him and be loved by him. I certainly hope Heaven is ready for someone like John, because there will be an unfillable void here on earth. Love you Dad! Eric

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing.  I, and my husband Tony, recently seen John and his lovely wife Francoise at our high school reunion.  I hadn't seen John in years.  He looked so nice and healthy.  Tony loves emailing and enjoyed many emails from John.  To all of John's family, you are in our prayers. Tony and Eva (Jay) Cortese.
