Karen L. Slaughter

Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Bernice (Wisniewski) and Walter Holmes.

Karen worked for over 25 years in the medical profession working at both Pottstown and Phoenixville Hospitals performing various duties including the Respiratory Therapy Department, and in Medical Transcription until her retirement in 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Candy L. Fenstermacher companion of Denis J. McCall of Telford. A son, Casey L. Slaughter companion of Christina Cilio of Boyertown. Karen is also survived by 7 grandchildren Carly, Jade, Eddie, Brianna, Anthony, Jesse, and Gavin.

Visitation Services will be held at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512, on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Following the services Thursday at the funeral home, the family will receive their friends and family at the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company Social Hall 10 Warwick Street, Boyertown, PA 19512, to celebrate Karen’s life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Karen’s name to the American Cancer Society 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
