Born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, to Sterling and Ruth on August 28, 1955, Kathy grew up in Pennsylvania, moved to Southern California, then settled in Virginia. She went to Boyertown Area High School in Boyertown, Pennsylvania and later earned her Master of Science in Nursing Administration from George Mason University in Virginia to deepen her love and knowledge of nursing. With a total of 43 years as a nurse, Kathy spent the last 30 years of her career at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. She was the epitome of a career success story, climbing the ladder from bedside nursing to the Senior Director of Nursing Services.
Kathy enjoyed traveling the world, glamping in her motor home, taking trips to the beach, spending time with family and friends, rooting for the Eagles, and enjoying life to the fullest.
Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Those who knew her never doubted how deeply she cared for her family. It showed in every word, every laugh, every late-night phone call, and every quiet moment of simply being there. People naturally gravitated toward her because her presence made them feel safe, grounded, and appreciated. She was a selfless and giving woman; her ever-present smile touched everyone. Kathy will be missed but never forgotten.
Kathy is survived by her husband and best friend of 40 years, Kerwin McNamara; daughter Denise Neiman Harman and her husband, Charles; two grandsons, Hunter and Chase Harman; and preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind a wide circle of devoted, extended family and friends.
