Born in his home in Boyertown, PA. He was a son of the late Harry H. Henry and Mildred (Weand) Shultz.
He was employed at A.D. Moyer working in the shop and sales for over 30 years until his retirement. Later he worked as a funeral service associate for the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc. for 21 years. In his younger years he worked in the maintenance department of Tung Sol.
LaVerne was a member of Good Shepherd UCC, Boyertown.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #741 Boyertown. a member of the Shriners and the Reading Blue Lodge. He was a life member of the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Co., Bally Fire Co., Sassamansville Fire Co. and the Bally Rod and Gun Club.He also was an avid golfer, hunter and bowler. In his younger years he played softball for many years.
LaVerne had a workshop in the back of his house. This workshop was his sanctuary and where he created pieces that were just not furniture, but also works of art, of which he poured his whole heart and soul into and gifted them to family and friends.
He was adamant about creating unforgettable memories with his children and loving wife by taking them on many wonderful vacations.
LaVerne is survived by his children, Ricky L. husband of Kathleen M. Henry of Pottstown, Cindy L. wife of Paul R. Benz of Gilbertsville and Pamela K. wife of Patrick Donovan of Boyertown. A sister, Lillian Eshbach of Gilbertsville. Grandchildren, Shaun P. husband of Danielle Donovan of Arnold, MD and R. Joshua husband of Nicole Donovan of Boyertown. a step-grandchild, Gregory V. Distajo of Pottstown. A great granddaughter, Isla M. Donovan at home and a step-great granddaughter, Kasie West at home. LaVerne is predeceased by his brother David C. Henry and his step fathers, Louis Kruk and Samuel Shultz.
Funeral Services will be held at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc. 111 North Reading Ave. Boyertown, PA 19512. on Thursday March 28, 2024 at 11:30 AM.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories. Limerick, PA.
