Lawrence M. Imbody

Born in Shanesville, PA. He was a son of the late Mabel (Matias) and Lawrence A. Imbody.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyertown.

Lawrence worked for 28 years, retiring in 1991, as a printer for Boyertown Packaging, where he also was the first president of the workers’ union at the factory. He also served as the Mayor of Bechtelsville from 1980 to 1992.

He served in the US Army in the European Theater during WWII with the 346th Infantry.

Lawrence was a member of the Bechtelsville Fire Co., a life member of Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Co. of Boyertown, and a past president and life member of the Berks County Mayors Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Trudy E., wife of John F. Albitz of Boyertown; and son Bryan A. Imbody, husband of Jayme M., of Boyertown. He is also survived by brother Daniel W. Imbody of Pottstown; 3 grandsons: Gregory, Jason, and Peter; 2 step grandsons: Mitchell and Mason; 3 great grandsons: Brett, Kellan, and Dominick; and 2 grand dogs: Marley and Abby. Lawrence is predeceased by a son Larry E. Imbody and his sisters, Mary, Katie and June.

Services will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, Monday at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 AM Monday. Interment will be in Bechtelsville Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. John’s Evangelical Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512; or to the Animal Rescue League, P.O. Box 69, Mohnton, PA 19540.
